Thanks to Our Wonderful Clients! May 16 2014

As promised, here are some of the new photos from our "real customers" photo shoot! Thanks so much to all of our client volunteers for sharing your beautiful homes. It has truly been a pleasure working with you!

Los Gatos Home  When we get the chance to help a customer create an entire space it's very exciting, and this great room is actually three spaces in one!

Because this is one very large room, our clients wanted to define each area as living, dining and reading nook. Tricks of the trade, like using large rugs and art, help your eye naturally group these areas together. We placed an extra large rug in the living room to define that space and layered it with comfy oversized seating. This is the Monte Carlo Grand Sofa and King Chair. You can't see the huge flatscreen on the opposite wall, but it's a great place to kick back and watch TV! Feet on this metal table are ok (even the giant one!)

The dining area is closer to the kitchen and grouped with an Old Lumber extension table and buffet. A large mirror above the buffet helps round out the dining area. The charcoal colored Jones dining chairs add some contrast that also help set the eating area apart. The third vignette is a nice reading corner. Sitting in the Simmons Swivel Chair mom can face the kitchen for conversation or face the backyard to watch the kids. A large scale abstract and floor lamp help define this space. A professionally prepared floor plan by our Harvest designers gave this family three differently used areas under one happy roof.

Los Altos Home  Filling a large room with all new furnishings is quite a treat but most of our clients are looking to add only a few furniture pieces that will freshen up a well-loved space. Working on these types of jobs can be just as satisfying for our designers. It can sometimes be a challenge to meld existing furniture with new Harvest pieces but these rooms always come together in just the right way!

What was needed here was a replacement for an old sofa and a new coffee table. The homeowner wasn't sure there would be room for a sectional, but after a visit to measure the space, we fortunately found that there was room for our small scale Laura full sofa and chaise. The existing leather chair and rattan chair were able to stay and we created a wonderful grouping for conversation. We added the Square coffee table, a window pane mirror above the chair that can reflect the lovely backyard, bright pillows and some other accessories to bring this room to life! With a few well thought out pieces, the whole room is new again.

Our Interior Designers are always available to answer any of your questions so come on in to see how we can help you freshen up your home.

Coming up next, more rooms to visit and lots more ideas for your own Harvest spaces!

Meet Photographer Eric Roth May 06 2014

Are you liking our new website look? Eric Roth has a lot to do with it! Interiors photography is an art and Eric is one of the best. Based in Boston, Eric comes West now and then to shoot for designers in the area and for us, of course. His composition, technical and lighting expertise show Harvest at it's best. We recently asked him to shoot some of our clients' homes featuring four interior design projects done by our team.

It was a fun-filled two day shoot and our clients were excited to see their spaces captured by this talented professional.

Eric couldn't resist trying out a banjo which we definitely needed to include in the photos showing part of the owner's personality.

We hope you enjoyed this behind the scenes sneak-peek and seeing Eric in action! Check back soon to see all of the photos here, and in our new Designer Portfolio.

If you haven't heard about our Interior Design services, ask us how we can help you create publish-worthy spaces!

A very special thank you to Joanie, Trish, Carole and Donna for letting us in to shoot your lovely spaces!

Los Gatos loves to have fun! And, we love our local artists. Starting Thursday evening, April 24th, merchants in Los Gatos will be hosting a monthly Art Walk where participating stores will display works by various local artists. This is a great chance to spend an evening downtown browsing fine art and enjoying sips of wine and appetizers at Harvest, and your other favorite shops.  "For me art is a sentimental journey. It is the recording of feelings and impressions I have at a particular time and place. Through the language of art I can express the joy I feel when creating a magical world with unlimited possibilities for combining colors, shapes, lines, and textures. I particularly enjoy painting outdoors, or Plein Air, where the elements of weather intuitively contribute to the dynamics of the final piece." - Carol Bower

The Los Gatos Art Walk is just getting started. As soon an more information on participants is available, we will share the links and/or website with you.

Until then, JOIN US on Thursday, April 24th from 6pm - 9pm for wine, fruit and cheese at Harvest Los Gatos, 18 North Santa Cruz Avenue  (408) 884-8664

Spotted! Our Lucia Chandelier and Other Great Pendants April 09 2014

Spotted in the March issue of Traditional Home is our Lucia Chandelier! The homeowner has hung three in a row for an impressive statement. These lights add a touch of rustic charm to a very refined kitchen space. The nubby burlap and the distressed metal are an eye catching contrast to the smooth surfaces in the rest of the kitchen.

Other kitchen pendant ideas come from our Houzz lighting ideabook. The Schoolhouse Pendant gives this modern kitchen a cool, vintage vibe.

This little space is so welcoming! The Metal and Jute pendants are just the right touch.

These beauties are from Ralph Lauren but our Vera is an excellent sub (and a lot less moola)!

Hanging pendants in sets adds both drama and great light for work areas. Check out our lighting selection for more great options for lighting your kitchen and other rooms in your home.

Happy Decorating!

Use Color to Transform Any Space March 06 2014

Color can truly transform any space. we Even a single color can make all the difference in creating an aesthetically pleasing space and tying a room together. Yellow and red are especially excellent colors for adding life and zest to an otherwise neutral or relatively dull space. We suggest keeping larger pieces such as sofas neutral and introducing more vibrant colors by adding throw pillows, blankets, decorative accessories, art, etc..

Here are a few inspiration rooms with accents of red and yellow where neutral colored sofas are transformed with color.

Harvest Staff Picks! Jackie February 13 2014

We've asked our Harvest team to choose some of their favorites to share with you. Here are Jackie's picks and why she thinks they are Harvest must-haves.

School House Pendant - I love the vintage inspired style of this pendant. The milk glass and grey metal finish create a true "old school" vibe and the impressive size (15 1/2") makes it perfect for over your kitchen island or breakfast nook.

Bedeau Paris Glass Top Table - This is the perfect double-duty piece. Use it as a desk for your home office and as a dining or buffet table for your next get-together. A map of old Paris graces the top and is covered with glass for easy maintenance. A Harvest best seller.

French Style Wall Mirror with Hooks - When you need something for the entry, here is a great solution. This wall mirror adds depth to small spaces and the hooks and shelf hold everything from coats, hats and hand bags to my dog's leash. A bunch of flowers tied with raffia and hanging from a hook or resting on the shelf would be a nice touch.

Frontier Area Rug - Flat weave rugs are trending and this one is one of the hottest. The Frontier would look great under the Bedeau Table. The soft muted colors make it perfect for any room. The rug is 100% wool making it super durable and very easy to clean. It's available in lots of sizes too.

Thanks so much! Look for these items and many more great Harvest finds at our stores. - Jackie

The Very Versatile Hugo Room Divider February 03 2014

We love our Hugo Room Divider. Anywhere we put it in the store it adds interest, texture, depth and it's functional. Not only can it be used to separate rooms but it's great when you want to define an area like a reading corner or a dining alcove. Its louvers are perfect for hanging everything from kids' artwork to Christmas cards. This screen, and the many others we carry at the store, provides us with a great backdrop for our furnishings.

Here are some great ideas on how you can use them in your home.

Against a wall screens and panels work well as architecturally interesting headboards. Layer them with art to add depth to your space. Make sure, however, that they are attached to the wall.

Don't forget to decorate your front porches and patios as well. Every space could use a Hugo!

Visit us and check out the Hugo and our other screens and panels that can help you create unique and inviting vignettes.

A Swedish Christmas January 18 2014

May 2014 bring happiness and love.
To our Harvest clients and their families – Thank you for a wonderful 2013.

We hope you had a relaxing holiday and that the New Year is kicking off with energy and inspiration.

I spent the holiday with my family and friends in Sweden. Home sweet home or Hem ljuva hem – as we say in Sweden. Although, it is exhausting to travel, I always feel refreshed, energized and inspired after some family time. There is something magical about Sweden and its traditions; the cozy Christmas red against the perfectly stark white interior inspires me so much,

the pickled herring with potatoes, the meatballs and ham with homemade mustard and spicy “snaps”.

the songs sung around the dinner tables and the stories grandpa tells around the fire, the Christmas stars and advent candles in every window.

I personally draw inspiration for my home from my Swedish country roots and love the natural, rustic, re-proposed and antique look. Spaces are most comfortable when I can kick my feet up and relax. It's nice to not worry about stains, scratches or pet hair. I like when the colors blend beautifully together with textures, patterns and different metals. Surprise elements like antlers, leather, stone and fur add interest. Simple and natural beauty is part of the rustic style. Very Swedish and very Harvest.

What's your style? Come into Harvest and let us help you create a comfortable and relaxing space for the New Year.
