Shooting the Breeze! April 15 2017

Our new sofa style, the Breeze, is getting a lot of attention in the stores. It's casual look and deep comfort are big hits. We featured this sofa in our most recent photo shoot, along with some other Harvest favorites.

The colors in this room scene are so crisp - ready for Spring and Summer. All that natural light streaming in also really helps set the tone! The cool colors of the furniture paired with the soft warm tone of the rug is balanced by the darker hues of the Duke hide and Shea coffee table. Without these darker pieces the room would feel pretty monochromatic, and that's ok, but adding some contrast is always interesting.

For the first shot we started with one Bradford chair. Karsten is getting Wind Blown Mane positioned (above). Adding another chair, we then got a straight-on shot. Tim (below) is adding final accessories for the scene. The flat screen will be photoshopped out. TVs aren't so great for beauty shots. :)

Frida the pup and Cherry the kitty wanted in on the action.

The Shea Coffee Table, and the Duke Rawhide close-up.

Some other pics we got on this shoot was of our Olof Bench - back in stock, yay! The swimming girl art we don't usually carry in the stores but we could certainly order you one.

Also a great statement is our Langford Mirror. Looks great here as an entry/landing piece.

Moving outside we were able to get a nice photo of our new outdoor dining furniture.

Shown are the Shelby Teak Dining Table and the Newport Arm Chair.

Visit our stores soon to test out the Breeze and other indoor furnishings. Our outdoor furnishings on on display at the Menlo Park Store.

More Harvest Style and a Brand New Sofa! April 03 2016

Another photoshoot gave us the perfect opportunity to show off our new sectional, the Amsterdam!

The Amsterdam's deep seats and relaxed slip-cover make it the perfect sofa for your comfortable and casual space. It's just dressy enough with it's sloped arms to give your room some extra flair, but once you sit in this sofa you won't want to leave it!

We've paired it here with our Old Fir Bluestone Coffee Table and our Garnett Leather Chairs, but this sofa is transitional enough to go with any existing furnishings you may already have. Visit our Harvest Style page for more products shown in this room scene.

Our new bedroom scene is so beautiful in shades of blue and grey! Mixing different shades of the same colors adds depth and richness without big contrast. This creates a soft and restful feel. Our rustic Omni casegood pieces provide just the right amount of texture to balance out the extra soft bedding and upholstered Humphrey bed and Walton club chair.

Thanks for visiting our site and we look forward to seeing you in the stores soon!

Behind the Scenes - San Carlos Photoshoot! January 31 2016

What a great opportunity to stage a big, beautiful, new, modern home for our most recent photoshoot! And what a fantastic way to show how Harvest's California Casual vibe can work well in even the most contemporary spaces!

For a shoot of this scale, planning and preparing begins months ahead of time with measurements taken, floor plans drawn and custom furniture ordered. Special consideration is given to not only what is chosen for the room but how it will look on camera.  A detailed shot list is also defined in order to capture the most, and the best photos, for Harvest's marketing needs.

Many hands and lots of talent are needed to bring together just the right look for Harvest; from furniture and accessory selection and procurement, to coordination for furniture installation and finally, for detailed styling and professional photography.

One of our top sellers is the Alex Sectional and we wanted to feature this piece in the family room and show how versatile and beautiful this design can be. Other pieces like our Drayton Coffee Table and Porter Chairs were added to the furniture plan for their scale, color and texture. Accessories and art were brought along, after careful selection and planning, that would round out the shot beautifully.

Zandra adds some final touches to the coffee table.

Ross captures the perfect angle for the shot and adjusts the lighting to best highlight the furnishings.

The dining area and the living room were wonderfully spacious and allowed us to show off our Harvest style!

Look for these and more stunning images from the shoot coming soon to our Harvest Style website page, to our Houzz page and to Pinterest!

Behind the Scenes on a Harvest Photo Shoot January 03 2016

Thinking about how to present our Harvest image on the website is a fun challenge. Our vibe has always been a livable and comfortable rustic style but with a new merchandiser, Zandra, and a change in trends that leans toward the glam, blending the two is perfect for Harvest and it's what she does best!

The stores are always getting in new merchandise! Zandra, Karsten and Nicole shop the furniture markets twice yearly to search out the new trends and find the pieces that are right for Harvest. New art, textiles and accessories allow Zandra to change up the stores' vignettes and keep things fresh. Here she starts with our Oro oil on canvas, a Porter chair and our Calais Trolley.

But this art piece, Abandoned Farm House, is one of her favorites and so it becomes the starting point for the vignette.

Finding the right accessories is a trial and error process. What looks great on the floor of the store doesn't mean it will take a nice photo. The lantern is a fantastic piece but it's covering too much of the artwork.

Zandra switches the side table to the Lucy, lands on the Glam marble table lamp, and keeps styling with accessories to get the right balance for the photo.

She finds just the right accessories and changes the photo's angle for more interest, and we've got the shot.

It's also important to keep in mind how the photo will translate to the home page and work with the other elements on the site. Nice!

Good work Zandra! And we hope you like it too! Keep visiting the site for more updates and behind the scenes with our team.
