Designer Spotlight - Vanessa Creates a Contemporary Retreat February 27 2017
Here's another spotlight on one of our talented interior designers, Vanessa, Harvest, Los Gatos. We love how this project not only highlights Vanessa's work, but shows how versatile Harvest furniture can be when designing a more modern interior.
The monochromatic palette Vanessa chose is not only restful but lends itself well to more contemporary spaces. The use of various fabrics, such as leather, velvet and linen on the upholstered pieces adds texture to the cool grey theme. The other finishes such as the metal base on our Gramercy Tufted Coffee Table mixed with the polished chrome of the customer's existing end tables reminds us that not everything needs to match. This works and looks lovely!
The Laura Sofa is one of our top-selling styles as it can meld with any decor; casual, modern, transitional... it fits anywhere! The leather Simmons Swivel Chairs allow Vanessa's client to focus on conversation or turn to watch the TV on the opposite wall. Both the velvet fabric used on the sofa and the leather used for the chairs are great choices for durability and timeless elegance.
Accessories add the perfect touch for a beautifully layered look. The Diamond Weave Throw offers some contrast to the sofa, and the Alanna Large Tray is the perfect accent for the coffee table/ottoman and functions beautifully as a base for her client's favorite flower. Tucked away in the corner is the Marguerite X-Stool, again in cool greys, that can be pulled into the conversation area for additional seating.
Another one of our top-sellers is the Wales Lily Area Rug. This wool and hemp flat weave is again, both beautiful and durable.
Thanks Vanessa for sharing this project with us!

Designer Spotlight - Sarah Adds a Dose of Farmhouse Style January 22 2017
Sarah, our Menlo Park Interior Designer, recently completed a project for a young couple, who have just finished renovating their home in Redwood City. With a blank slate, Sarah and her clients were able to choose each item to make sure it all flows together. They wanted a rustic farmhouse style, but they needed all the pieces to be practical and functional for their two kids. So, Sarah chose a classic furniture layout, and she picked pieces that were neutral with blue tones and a couple of accent colors to keep it fun and casual.
She chose a light "greige" fabric for the Napa Sofa, which is great for families, and the two Simmons Chairs have a blue and white pattern for added interest. To complete the conversation area, she placed two Burlap Storage Cubes in front of the fireplace for additional seating.
To fill a corner of the room, Sarah placed a round bar cart with a few accessories and succulents to bring some life to the space.
Sarah chose a Harvest Console Table with a Busalla Mirror above it for the perfect vignette in the entryway.

Designer Spotlight - Vanessa Adds Big Impact to a Small Living Space January 24 2016
Harvest San Carlos Interior Designer, Vanessa, was given the challenge to create a modern, clean-lined space for her San Carlos client's new home. "The furniture needed to be small in scale but still provide ample, comfortable seating" notes Vanessa. "My client also wanted the room to feel cooler, with grays and blues, while working with the warmer existing paint color."
Vanessa chose the perfect shade of dark gray for the sofa to compliment the walls and added light colored chairs and accessories for high contrast and high impact!
Our Alex Sectional, customized here as a sofa, is perfect for smaller rooms. Its narrow arms allow for more seating space without sacrificing style. And our Coachman Fabric Chairs are small but big on comfort and charm. The geometric pillows add a modern touch as does the Reverie Oil on Canvas painting that pulls all of the colors in the room together. The contemporary drum shade and hand forged metal base of our Mondovi Floor Lamp add even more texture and architectural interest.
But, designed into this modern space is just the right amount of rustic! Vanessa added our reclaimed wood coffee table and end table to get that one-of-a-kind Harvest Style look. Our Davies Coffee Table and end table blend rustic wood tops with industrial metal bases perfect for the eclectic design direction of the room.
We love how Vanessa has created a perfectly balanced room in color, scale and texture that is unique to her client's own personal style. Marrying the modern and the rustic, in perfect harmony, is what our designers do best! Great work Vanessa!
