Designer Spotlight - Melissa Designs a Colorful, Youthful Space May 26 2017

This Designer Spotlight features Melissa's work from the Los Gatos store. Her young clients wanted a fresh and clean-lined look with space for entertaining, playing guitar and for watching TV.

Now, we don't usually show before pictures but this transformation is so uplifting that we had to show how it looked before Melissa helped out!

Got the idea?

Here's the fun and colorful after, and they love it!

The little leather chair was the only piece of furniture that was staying, so Melissa had a clean slate! Creating a floor plan that offered the maximum amount of seating and storage was the first step. Then, choosing colors, she started with a navy sofa and added complimentary colors in the accessories to give the space some punch. The red-orange in the pillows and throws are a colorful contrast to the deep blues. Mixing patterns within the palette is also a great way to add energy.

Melissa is also not afraid to mix finishes! Brass accents in the end table, floor lamp and table lamp mix beautifully with the iron and wood textures of the coffee tables and other wood furnishings.

The entry wall was a natural place for a console table and our always perfect Junius Mirror. The console can double as a serving area when guests are over.

Here is a list of the pieces that Melissa used in this room!

Alex Sectional - Microfiber fabric
Console Table - Vintage Altar Table
Coffee table - Chelsea end table(s)
Apothecary Floor lamp
Hexagon Curtain Rod
Pillows -
Willow Basket Orange Pillow
Mizuki Copper Pillow

You may have noticed the gallery of small oil paintings above the sectional. They are actually done by Melissa's aunt, Kathy Bodamer! What a nice way to incorporate personal pieces into a new furnishing design. Check out more of Kathy's work HERE.

We are always proud of our interior designers and how they can help our customers create unique spaces just right for them. Great work Melissa!!
